about

Vladislav Opelyants is a renowned Russian cinematographer who received the prestigious CST Award for his work on Petrov's Flu. The CST Award, presented by the French Society of Cinematographers, is one of the most respected honors in the industry. Notably, it is not awarded every year, and when it is, it recognizes exceptional contributions to cinematography, voted on by fellow professionals. Known for his openness to visual experimentation and his versatility across genres—from intimate dramas to large-scale blockbusters—Opelyants has become a significant figure in contemporary cinema.

A graduate of VGIK, where he studied under the legendary Vadim Yusov (Solaris, Andrei Rublev), Opelyants has worked with some of the most distinctive voices in filmmaking, including Academy Award–nominated director Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog, Persian Lessons) and Kirill Serebrennikov (Leto, Petrov’s Flu, Tchaikovsky’s Wife). He also worked on 12, directed by Nikita Mikhalkov, which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and won the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival. His work has earned international recognition, with three of his films premiering in the Main Competition at the Cannes Film Festival.

Constantly seeking new visual approaches, Opelyants embraces each film as an opportunity to push creative boundaries and uncover unexpected discoveries, blending artistry with technique in his cinematic work.
